Grab Bag (Bug-Out Bag) Checklist
A single grab-and-go bag for when you have minutes to leave — fire, flood or evacuation. Everything to stay warm, hydrated, fed and reachable for 24–72 hours away from home.
A grab bag — sometimes called a bug-out bag — is one packed rucksack you can pick up and leave with in under a minute. It's the kit you'll want if you're ever told to evacuate for a fire, flood or gas leak, or if staying put simply isn't safe.
Aim for enough to keep one person going for 24–72 hours: shelter, water, food, light, power and a way to signal for help. Pack it in a waterproof bag, keep it by the door, and check the food and batteries twice a year.
