Power Cut & Blackout Kit Checklist
Everything you need to ride out a UK power cut in comfort and safety — light, warmth, hot food and a way to stay informed when the mains and broadband go down.
Power cuts in the UK are usually short, but winter storms, grid faults and planned outages can leave you without electricity for hours — occasionally longer. A small, well-stocked blackout kit means you're never fumbling in the dark or going cold.
Keep these items together somewhere easy to reach, and test your torches and radio a couple of times a year. If you use a stove, heater or candles indoors during an outage, a carbon monoxide alarm is non-negotiable — never run fuel-burning kit in an unventilated room.
